EXIOBASE

EXIOBASE is a global, detailed Multi-Regional Environmentally Extended Supply-Use  Table (MR-SUT) and Input-Output Table (MR-IOT). It was developed by harmonizing and detailing supply-use tables for a large number of countries, estimating emissions and resource extractions by industry. Subsequently the country supply-use tables were linked via trade  creating an MR-SUT and producing a MR-IOTs from this. The MR-IOT that can be used for the analysis of the environmental impacts associated with the final consumption of product groups.

Figure Water use in the upstream supply chain of EU-27 household consumption domains, million m³ (blue) water, 2020 To produce and handle all clothing, footwear and household textiles purchased by EU-27 households in 2020, an estimated 4024 million m³ of blue water was used (9m³ per person), making this consumption domain the third highest impact category after food and recreation. Only 12% of blue water consumption takes place within Europe.

Only 20% of primary material consumption takes place within Europe, which is the lowest ratio of all consumption domains, and shows that environmental impacts are exported to other parts of the world.

(2015). For example, the global zone of uncertainty for Freshwater is de ned as 4000-6000 km3 in Ste en et al. (2015). This study uses 4000 km3 as the basis for calculating the European share. In some cases (indicated in brackets) slightly di erent control variables have been used than in Ste en et al. (2015).The yellow zone of uncertainty represents the average range across six principles to allocate a European share of the global safe operating space (equality, needs, rights to development, sovereignity, capability).More information in the forthcoming EEA report

Import, export, production and consumption flows of textile products, EU-28, 2017 In 2017, the EU produced 7.4 kg and imported 27.9 kg of textiles per person, while exporting 11.2 kg and consuming nearly 26 kg per person. This implies that the EU is a net importer of textiles. Comext trade data provide the trade data of EU-28 with non-EU-28 countries, at detailed product level. Eurostat, EU trade since 1988 by HS2-HS4 [DS-016894], last update 15.02.19. Sold production data provide the production data of EU-28 countries, at detailed product level, last update 31.07.2019.
