The 'GISCO NUTS 2021' data set represents the NUTS 2021 regulation and statistical regions by means of multipart polygon, polyline and point topology. The NUTS geographical information is completed by attribute tables and a set of cartographic help lines to better visualize multipart polygonal regions. Public access to the full data set is not possible due to intellectual property rights.
This metadata refer to the vector dataset presenting, for NUTS3 regions, the average travel time to the nearest hospital in 2020. The data has been developed by Eurostat to measure how easily basic services can be reached by the resident population, based on spatial analyses of the location of healthcare facilities, combined with the road network. Healthcare facility were computed (note this could have been across a national border).
The regional seas around Europe are the Baltic Sea, the Barents Sea, the Black Sea, the Iceland Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, the North-east Atlantic Ocean, the Norwegian Sea, and the White Sea. The regional seas are harmonised with existing boundaries established under the Regional Sea Conventions (OSPAR, HELCOM, Barcelona, and Bucharest Convention) and MSFD regions and subregions, as agreed by the Marine Strategy Framework Directive Committee in November 2016.
This data set show the European agriculture area in 2018 at 100m spatial resolution, covering EEA38 member countries and the United Kingdom. The raster value is 1 when agricultural area is identified and NoData for other land cover / land uses.

This figure shows indexed values of waste generation per capita and gross domestic product (GDP) with year 2010 as a reference year (2010=100%). Production phase shows generation of total waste and waste excluding major mineral wastes. Gross domestic product (GDP) was chosen as a basic indicator of the economic growth as it expresses the total value of goods and services produced in the country (the components of GDP include personal consumption expenditures plus business investment plus government spending plus (exports minus imports)).
All Member States are requested by EU Regulation 1143/2014 to report every 6 years on the Invasive Alien Species (IAS) of Union, of regional and of Member State concern and to provide information on cross-cutting issues of the implementation of the Regulation.
This map shows the percentage change in total heatwave exposure of people over 65 years old for the period 2010-2020 compared to 2000-2009 in EEA member and cooperating countries plus the United Kingdom. The indicator has been calculated by multiplying the number of people aged 65 years and older years by number of heatwaves. Heatwaves are defined as periods of 2 or more days on which both the minimum and maximum temperatures are above the local 95th percentile (defined according to 1986-2005 baseline).

The climatic suitability is an index ranging from 0 to 100. The P90 indicator of the climatic suitability is the 90th percentile value of the index range modelled across the city. The modelling is based on 100m resolution hourly temperature data (based on simulations with the urban climate model UrbClim). From this dataset, the climate suitability has been generated based on annual precipitation and the average temperature in January and during the summer months for the years 2008-2009. The map shows the trend in heat attributable mortality incidence (annual deaths/million/decade) for the general population, 2000-2020.
This data set presents assessment of health risk due to exposure to three main pollutants (PM2.5, NO2 and O3-SOMO35) at NUTS3 and Country levels. In addition, average and population weighted average concentration values are available in the data set for PM10, PM2.5, NO2 and O3 (SOMO35). The calculations are made for years 2005 to 2020. The concentrations data are taken from the ETC/ATNI interpolated maps (ETC/ATNI Eionet Reports 1/2020/ and 1/2021 and references therein). The methodology is as described in ETC/ATNI Eionet Report 10/2021, aggregating at country level.

This figure shows greenhouse gas emissions under the European Union Emissions Trading System (ETS) since the start of the system. It includes the cap on allowances, as well as the existing and proposed targets for 2030.
The Effort Sharing Decision (ESD) No 406/2009/EC establishes annual greenhouse gas emission targets for Member States for the period 2013โ2020. These targets concern emissions from most sectors not included in the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS), such as transport, buildings, agriculture and waste. Emissions from land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF) and international shipping are not included. Every year, the EEA coordinates the ESD review of Member Statesโ greenhouse gas inventories, so that the European Commission can determine compliance with the annual ESD targets on the basis of accurate, reliable and verified emission data. Review reports and final ESD emissions are published by the European Commission. ESD emissions for the period 2005โ2012 and for the latest year ("Y-1") are estimated by EEA on the basis of national GHG inventory data and ETS emissions.
