area of MAES agricultural (cropland and grassland) area within FEC floodplain / potential flood-prone area extent within FEC (rivers, estuaries and other "blue areas" are excluded from this calculation) *100

Data EEA potential flood-prone area extent The EEA potential flood prone area extent delineates the area that is flooded once every 100 years, i.e. the probability of flooding is 1% assuming that flooding is unrestricted. The potential flood prone area is comprised of the river channel and floodplain. In reality, the floodplain is split into an active floodplain where flooding still occurs, and former floodplain where flooding is restricted due to flood protection. The former floodplain could be flooded again either if a flood exceeds the capacity of flood protection, or if factors that control the presence of water were removed. These factors include channel and floodplain morphological alterations as well as structural flood protection measures. The spatial coverage of the data set is EEA39 countries.
Data Copernicus Land Monitoring Service - Riparian Zones Riparian zones represent transitional areas occurring between land and freshwater ecosystems, characterised by distinctive hydrology, soil and biotic conditions and strongly influenced by the stream water. They provide a wide range of riparian functions (e.g. chemical filtration, flood control, bank stabilization, aquatic life and riparian wildlife support, etc.) and ecosystem services. Three complementary product groups provide detailed information on the state and characteristics of riparian zones across the EEA member and cooperating countries: Land Cover / Land Use (LCLU), Delineation of Riparian Zones (DRZ), Green Linear Elements (GLE).
Data European catchments and Rivers network system (Ecrins) Version 1, Jun. 2012 - Ecrins is acronym for European catchments and Rivers network system. It is a geographical information system of the European hydrographical systems with a full topological information. Ecrins is a composite system made from the CCM developed by the JRC, Corine land Cover, WFD reporting elements, etc.
