More information

The '2020 target' is defined under the Renewable Energy Directive (RED, 2009/28/EC) and its recast (EU) 2018/2001.

For Iceland and Norway, these targets are defined under Annex IV to the European Economic Area Agreement.

Methodology

The renewable energy share data used for 2005-2020 are taken directly from the Eurostat SHARES tool. Proxy 2021 values are estimated by the EEA.
