The share of renewable energy sources in gross final energy consumption reported by Eurostat (SHARES Results) takes into account all biofuels consumed in transport between 2005 and 2010, and only biofuels certified as being in compliance with the RED sustainability criteria for the years starting from 2011.

Methodology

The data for 2005-2021 was compiled by Eurostat and reported by Member States. Proxy 2022 values are estimated by the EEA.

Approximated estimates for the share of gross final consumption of renewable energy sources, 2022 provided by European Environment Agency (EEA)
