pan-European landscape and biological diversity strategy

Term
The strategy establishes an international framework for cooperation for consolidating and extending existing schemes and programmes in the conservation field. Endorsed at the third pan-European Conferences of Ministers of the Environment 'Environment for Europe' held in Sofia in October 1995, it concerns 54 countries of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. The Council of Europe and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) are responsible for the strategy's secretariat.
