HelpCenter FAQ
Transport currently accounts for more than a quarter of the EU's greenhouse gas emissions and this figure continues to rise as demand grows and other sectors reduce their emissions. Moving towards more sustainable mobility is thus paramount and means putting users first and providing them with more affordable, accessible, healthier and cleaner alternatives.
Several key actions are put forward at EU level to boost the uptake of clean vehicles and alternative fuels, to facilitate a shift to more sustainable transport modes such as rail and inland waterways, to promote multimodal transport – the combining of various transport modes throughout a journey – and cycling, walking and public transport in urban areas. For further information, please consult section 16.4 on the mobility system of the European Environment - State and Outlook 2020 report.
