Europe aims to transform its industry to clean, circular and decarbonised production. Where is this progress most evident and what are the gaps? How can Europe accelerate the industrial transformation and what does this mean for competitiveness and long-term policy planning?

This webinar takes stock of how European industry is progressing towards a clean, circular and decarbonised system. It builds on a forthcoming EEA report 'Europe's industrial transformation: from environmental progress to clean competitiveness' that consolidates key indicators to assess environmental and climate performance and the enabling conditions for a green industrial transformation. The report will also explore strategic options for shielding, scaling and restructuring a clean and competitive EU industry.

Speakers

  • Shanar Taleb-Tabrizi, EEA expert on industrial transformation

  • Nikos Nikolakakos, Environment & Resources Manager, Cement Europe

  • Stefan Lechtenböhmer, Kassel University, Member of the EEA Scientific Committee

Presentations will be followed by an open discussion where the online audience can ask questions and reflect on the topic together with the speakers.
