This figure shows the number of observed acute and chronic climate hazards reported in 2025. Acute hazards related to water and temperature are most common, followed by wind-related and solid mass hazards, while ice-related hazards affect only a few countries. The ranking of hazards has remained largely stable over the past five years, although wind-related hazards show the most notable change and water scarcity has become increasingly relevant. Some hazards are region-specific, such as sea ice changes in northern countries and cyclones affecting both northern and southern regions.
