Chart (interactive)
In this figure, the EU total net GHG emissions include all GHG emissions and removals regulated by EU law. The estimation of historical emissions from the international aviation and maritime sectors for this scope relies on data derived from the Joint Research Centre′s (JRC’s) IDEES methodology (calculated based on JRC (1)). The target values are derived from the European Climate Law (ECL) for 2030 and 2050 (2). The data for the 1990-2023 period are from the EEA (4), while the aggregated GHG emissions projections are based on the data submitted by Member States in 2024 under Article 18 of the Governance Regulation, taking into account the planned additional measures (′WAM-scenario′)
