European Union flag

This figure shows the 1 km × 1 km grid cells included in the analysis for each country. The y-axis represents the percentage of cell area exposed to road traffic noise levels of ≥65 dB, while the x-axis represents the percentage of residents born outside the EU. The fitted line indicates the estimated linear relationship (slope and intercept) between the two variables. Nineteen of the 21 countries analysed show a positive correlation. Overall, the results suggest that, within most countries, grid cells with a higher share of residents born outside the EU also tend to experience higher levels of road traffic noise exposure. However, the strength of this relationship is generally weak to moderate.
