Illustrative developments of EU wholesale electricity prices by 2030 under the modelled scenarios
Chart (interactive)
The figure looks ahead to 2030 electricity prices under three scenarios: one where gas price stays stable (SC1), one where RES development stalled at 2010 levels, and one that uses modelling for 2030 from the 2024 EEA report "Renewables, electrification and flexibility – for a competitive EU economy" (EEA 2024).
EEA 2024 illustrates the optimal pathway scenario modelled as part of the 2024 EEA report Renewables, electrification and flexibility – for a competitive EU economy under an assumption of higher renewable capacity, lower electricity demand and somewhat greater system flexibility than what seems plausible today, in line with the ENTSO-E TYNDP.
