Table 1. Country population data and estimated attributable deaths from air pollution, 2022
Infographic (static)
- Peak season is the average of the daily maximum 8-hour mean concentration in the six consecutive months with the highest six-month running-average concentration (WHO, 2021).
- "Annual mean" and "Peak season" correspond to the population-weighted concentrations and are an estimation of exposure.
- Population data for every country and every group of countries is rounded to the nearest thousand.
- The first group of countries correspond to the EU-27 and they are in alphabetical order. The rest are presented underneath, starting with Albania.
- Deaths are rounded for every country to the nearest hundred if the number is above 1,000 and to the nearest ten if the number is below 1,000.
- Total deaths are rounded (once the unrounded national totals have been added) to the nearest thousand for EU-27, EEA-32 and all countries.
- Number of deaths per 100,000 inhabitants (Nr/105) are rounded to integers.
- The corresponding 95% confidence intervals can be found at Burden of disease from air pollution.
