Proportion of bathing waters of excellent quality in European countries, 2025
Chart (interactive)
The figure shows the share of bathing waters classified as excellent quality by country for the 2025 bathing season. Countries are ordered by the percentage of bathing waters in the excellent quality class.
The assessment covers 22,289 bathing waters in Europe (EU-27, Albania and Switzerland) reported to the EEA for the 2025 bathing season. A total of 22,010 bathing waters were reported across the EU. Only 80.2% of bathing waters were assessed for quality in Poland. A significant share of unassessed waters consisted of either newly designated bathing sites or sites lacking the complete set of samples required for assessment under the BWD.
