Share of excellent quality bathing waters in Europe in the season 2024 (EU countries, Albania, and Switzerland)

The assessment covers 22,127 bathing waters in Europe that were reported to the EEA for the 2024 season (Annex 1). In the EU, there were a total of 21,848 bathing waters. Only 79.7% of bathing waters in Poland — almost 3 percentage points more than in the 2023 season — were assessed for their quality. A significant share of unassessed waters were those which had been newly identified for bathing; complete sets of samples — which would allow an assessment compliant with BWD requirements — were not available to classify these.
