Overview
Industrial Combustion Plants >300MW are not nearly as important for point source emissions as Public Power Plants >300MW. Emissions from the largest emitting Industrial Combustion Plants are only a tenth by size of those produced by the largest Public Power Plants.
The ten largest emitting plants are mainly located in the Czech Republic, Germany (former East and West), Poland, Italy, United Kingdom and Bulgaria (see table 15).

SO2
The 212 Industrial Combustion Plants are responsible for 1.8 million tonnes of SO2, which is 9% of the total LPS emission (see table 16 and map 4).

Former East Germany is dominating the picture for the biggest SO2 emitting Industrial Combustion Plants in Europe.
The LPS located in the EU countries are reported as subject to the LCP directive.
CO2
The 212 Industrial Combustion Plants are responsible for 0.2 billion tonnes of CO2, that is 10% of the total LPS emission (see table 17 and map 5).

NOx
The 212 Industrial Combustion Plants are responsible for 0.4 million tonnes of NOx, representing 9% of the total LPS emission of NOx (see table 18 and map 6).

It is worth noting that the six largest LPS with respect to CO
2
emissions are not among the top ten LPS with respect to SO
2
emissions. Only one LPS is present among the top ten for all three pollutants (SO
2
, CO
2
and NO
x
). This indicates that there are significant differences between the various plants which might be due to different fuels characteristics and different level of control measures.
