Data Visualization
The figure compares average values of the Gross Nitrogen Balance in kg nutrient/ ha Utilised Agricultural Area (UAA)/year for two time periods (2000-2003 and 2012-2015) at the level of the Member States/ countries, displaying also EU28 averages for the two periods for better comparison.
Methodology: The data was produced by eurostat. The method is described under the following link: http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php/Agri-environmental_indicator_-_gross_nitrogen_balance (site will be operational soon again). From the annual data provided two average values were calculated for each Member State/country individually, for the EU28 : one for the period 2000-2003 and one for the period 2011-2014. Note, that for the values for the EU28 , the Eurostat estimates have been taken for each year and then the average for the two time periods were calculated - no own estimates were calculated by the EEA. The estimates provided by Eurostat can be found in the Drill down info together with the original data for the Member States.For Estonia, for the first period, no data was available and data for the year 2004 was take as replacement.
