Methodology:: The chart was prepared based on data reported by Plastics Europe, in their individual yearly brochures of “Plastics – the facts” for the years 2012 to 2020:We used two datasets reported therein: the reported total European plastics (converter) demand (in million tonnes) and the fraction (%) attributed to packaging and we calculated the corresponding annual volume converted to packaging (in million tonnes).
