Data on monitoring stations are collected for each reporting period (4 year period) and include characteristics on the water monitoring stations and values for the concentrations of NO₃ for each station. The groundwater quality data linked to the monitoring stations includes average annual nitrate concentration, maximum nitrate concentration per station, and trends per station on average nitrate concentration between the current and previous reporting period. Data is uploaded to the Central Data Repository at http://cdr.eionet.europa.eu/.

Methodology:

Distribution of nitrate concentrations in groundwater, by country and by concentration classes. Based on data reported under the Nitrates Directive for reporting period 2016-2019. The number of groundwater stations used is shown in brackets.
