Trend in snow cover extent over the Northern Hemisphere

Satellite observations were converted to monthly information. Yearly anomalies calculated relative to the 1971-2000 average as in Brown and Robinson (2011). Smoothing used a 13-year centred running average. The 95 % confidence intervals also smoothed in the same way.
