The national circular economy strategy and action plan has been prepared in order to contribute to Türkiye’s transition to a circular economy that uses sustainable resources and is based on resource efficiency. This is a national strategy and is based on resource use in Türkiye. In line with the current situation and a needs analysis of the country in the action plan, seven sectors with high environmental impact were given priority: electronics and information and communication technologies, batteries and vehicles, packaging, plastic, textile, construction and building, and food and biomass. The project ‘Development of End of Waste Concept’ in Türkiye was started on 25 April 2023. Using the material flow analysis methodology proposed by Eurostat, Türkiye’s circularity rate for 2018 was calculated as 4.5 %, and results for years 2020–2022 will follow.
