The indicator shows the share of the EU’s agricultural land used for organic farming and the distance to the target of a 25% share as set by the European Green Deal.
In Kosovo, organic farming accounts for only 0.47 % of the total utilised agricultural area. Over 2012–2022, this share increased by 0.43. Based on current trends, Kosovo aims to expand organic farming . However, compared with EU Member States and their targets of 25 %, Kosovo faces challenges .
Since 2018, growth in the sector has been driven by increased subventions from the state budget, rising from EUR 29 648 in 2018 to . This growth is also supported by donor-funded programmes. There is growing interest from farmers and consumers in organic products, with increasing awareness of their benefits .
The national program for agriculture and rural development, funded by the EU, offers financial support to farmers transitioning to organic practices. Civil-society organisations like Organika also play a vital role in .
