The be@t Initiative 5 is a key component of the broader be@t project, aimed at advancing industrial symbiosis in Portugal. As such, a critical feature of be@t is the creation of a digital platform that facilitates the exchange of agro-industrial residues, promoting a circular economy within the region.

This initiative focuses on developing a digital platform that acts as a marketplace for the exchange of residues and by-products between the textile industry and local agro-industrial sectors. By facilitating the repurposing of waste materials, the platform encourages companies to collaborate and share resources, significantly reducing waste and lowering environmental impact.

The platform's primary goal is to enhance the sustainability of the textile value chain by integrating circular economy principles into industrial practices. Through this digital tool, industries can identify opportunities to utilize each other's by-products, turning waste into valuable inputs for production processes. This not only minimizes resource consumption but also drives innovation in sustainable manufacturing.

By creating synergies between different sectors, the initiative promotes the adoption of eco-friendly practices across industries, contributing to a more sustainable and resilient industrial ecosystem in Portugal. The platform is expected to play a critical role in reducing the environmental footprint of the textile industry while supporting broader national and EU sustainability goals.
