The EU emission trading scheme (ETS) is one of the main and most prominent measures introduced by the EU to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and reach its target under the Kyoto Protocol. The main source of information on the scheme at EU level is the Community Independent Transaction Log (CITL). The CITL is a central transaction log, run by the European Commission, which checks and records all transactions taking place within the trading scheme. The EU ETS data viewer provides aggregated data by country, by sector and by year on the verified emissions, allowances and surrendered units of the more than 12 000 installations covered by the EU emission trading scheme.
