VACANCY NOTICE 3-2001

The European Environment Agency is organising a selection procedure with a view to drawing up a reserve list for the following post:

Secretary (C5/C4) - Reference No. EEA/C/2001/2

Function and tasks:

General secretarial support and assistance in the Agency’s programmes or services, including several or most of the following tasks:

  • Drafting of correspondence, document registration and filing
  • Administrative support
  • Preparation and assistance in the organisation of meetings
  • Addresses management and execution of mailings
  • Support web hosting of documents
  • Conduct telephone contacts, follow up deadline diaries
  • Preparation of transparencies and presentational materials.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Secondary education with certificates
  • At least three years’ secretarial experience
  • Good knowledge of use of IT to perform secretarial tasks
  • Sense of responsibility, also in dealing with confidential matters

Eligibility

Selection is open to candidates who, on the closing date for the submission of applications, satisfy the following general requirements:

  • Are a national of one of the Member Countries of the EEA (Member States of the European Union plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) OR
  • Are a national of one of the new Member Countries of the EEA (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Cyprus, Malta, Turkey). The recruitment of nationals from these countries will be subject to prior ratification of the EEA membership agreement
  • Meet the educational requirements as described under “Qualifications and experience”
  • Enjoy full rights as a citizen
  • Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by law concerning military service
  • Meet the character requirements for the duties involved
  • Have a thorough knowledge of one of the EEA Member Country languages and a satisfactory knowledge of a second of these languages. Knowledge of English would be an asset.

The application form can only be considered, if:

  • it is sent no later than the closing date specified (date of postmark serves as proof);
  • it is filled in legibly, signed and dated;
  • photocopies of relevant diplomas are attached;
  • a photocopy of a document giving proof of nationality (e.g. passport) is attached;
  • the reference number of the post is indicated both in the form and on the envelope.

Selected candidates will be included on a reserve list for the post in question and may be offered a contract of up to 5 years, with the possibility of renewal, in accordance with the conditions of employment of other servants of the European Communities.
