It maps these features with high-resolution spatial detail and categorizes them based on their linear or patch-like nature, offering insights into landscape structure and vegetation density. HRL Imperviousness
The High Resolution Layer Imperviousness product maps the spatial distribution and dynamics of artificially sealed and built-up areas across Europe. It includes two main datasets: Imperviousness Density, which gives a percentage of sealed surfaces per pixel, and its binary sub-class Impervious Built-Up. Density and classfied change datasets as well as aggregated layers, such as Share of Built-Up, are available for both main datasets.
The product has an update cycle of three years. It is available from the 2006 reference year onwards for the Imperviousness Density datasets and from the 2018 reference year onwards for the Impervious Built-Up datasets.

HRL Grasslands
High Resolution Layer Grasslands products map the location and size of permanent and temporary grasslands, in addition to providing information on mowing events across the EEA38. These products are all offered at high resolution and include annual status layers. Change layers are also available, showing grassland vegetation gain and loss in 3-yearly updates. The products are designed to be used by researchers, policymakers, farmers, or anyone else who stands to benefit from monitoring the state of grassland ecosystems in Europe. Key application areas range from implementation or monitoring of various European Union (EU) policies such as the Habitats Directive or the Common Agriculture Policy, to contributing to research on how climate change is impacting grassland ecosystems.
The products were initially on a 3-year update cycle, producing reference year 2015. From reference year 2017 and onwards the products are produced annually, except change layers which will remain on a 3-year update cycle.

HRL Croplands
The High Resolution Layer Croplands products are developed for researchers, policymakers, farmers and other stakeholders interested in analysing the European agricultural landscape. The Crop Types layer allows users to see which type of crops have been cultivated in a given area during the main growing season. Meanwhile, the Cropping Patterns layers provide information on key agricultural characteristics such as emergence, harvest, the length of the bare soil period, crop rotation cycles and more.
The datasets are available in high resolution, with consistent information available annually from 2017 onward.
