Coastal zones derived from Corine Land Cover
This is the coastal zone land surface region from Europe, derived from the coastline towards inland, as a series of 10 consecutive buffers of 1km width each. The coastline is defined by the extent of the Corine Land Cover 2018 (raster 100m) version 20 accounting layer.
Riparian Zones
The Riparian Zones provides detailed information on the state and characteristics of riparian zones across Europe in a variable buffer zone of selected rivers (Strahler levels 2-9 derived from EU-Hydro).
The product has a six years update cycle and is available for the 2012 and 2018 reference years including the change layer. Besides the land cover and land use layer the Riparian Zoned product for the 2012 reference year has two additional layers: Delineation of Riparian Zones and Green Linear Elements.
The Riparian Zones is part of the European Union’s Copernicus Land Monitoring Service.
Environmental zones in Europe
The Environmental Stratification of Europe (EnS) dataset from the University of Edinburgh, is a statistically derived land classification which provides a novel global spatial framework for the integration and analysis of ecological and environmental data (Metzger, Marc J. 2018). It provides a robust spatial analytical framework for the aggregation of local observations, identification of gaps in current monitoring efforts and systematic design of complementary and new monitoring and research.
