Probability habitat mapping is a top-down approach where spaceborne observations such as satellite derived land cover data is used to refine the potential habitat suitability map into actual probability maps. As such, probability mapping refines bottom-up suitability maps and the result is a more targeted and limited extent of the modelled habitat distribution.
