Dominant Leaf Type allows users to identify and track changes in the dominant leaf type (i.e., broadleaf, coniferous) of all

Copernicus HRL Forests and Corine Land Cover Forest products
The High-Resolution Layers Forest consist of 3 status and change products: tree cover density, dominant leaf type and forest type product. The products are available every 3 years for the period 2012-2018.
The Corine Land Cover Forest products have assessed status and changes since 2000 and include 4 forest classes: 311 (broadleaved forests), 312 (conifer forests), 313 (mixed forests), and 324 (transitional woodland and scrubs). The layers are updated every six years.
HRL Forest Type
High Resolution Layer Forest Type product at pan-European level provides extent of forests according to the forest definition of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Derived from the Tree Cover Density and Dominant Leaf Type, along with supporting data from CORINE Land Cover and HRL Imperviousness, the dataset distinguish the major forest types: decideous, coniferous.
The product has a three-year update cycle and is available for the 2012, 2015, 2018, and 2021 reference years.
High Resolution Layer Tree Cover and Forest product is part of the European Union’s Copernicus Land Monitoring Service.
Forest Area based on Copernicus HRL Forest products
This data shows the European forest area at 100m spatial resolution covering EEA38 member countries and United Kingdom. It is based on Copernicus High Resolution Layer forest products at 20m spatial resolution and complies with the FAO forest definition (i.e. minimum mapping unit of 0.5 ha, minimum coverage of 10% and excluding land that is predominantly under agricultural or urban land use).
