This dataset contains the location and administrative data for the largest industrial complexes in Europe, releases and transfers of regulated substances to all media, waste transfers as well as more detailed data on energy input and emissions for large combustion plants. These data are reported to EEA under Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) 2010/75/EU Commission Implementing Decision 2018/1135 and the European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR) Regulation (EC) No 166/2006 Commission Implementing Decision 2019/1741. The dataset brings together data formerly reported separately under E-PRTR Regulation Art.7 and under IED Art.72. Additional reporting requirements under the IED are also included.

European data

Industrial Reporting database

This database covers data for the largest industrial complexes in Europe. It contains releases and transfers of regulated substances to all media, waste transfers reported under the European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR) from 2007 to 2019 and as well as more detailed data on energy input and emissions for large combustion plants (reported under IED Art.72) from 2016 to 2019. It contains by EU Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The provided files represent the status of the EEA Industrial Reporting database as of 15 March 2021. Please refer to the "Additional information" section below for further details.

Additional information

Data completeness

A number of reporting countries have to date not submitted some of the most recent data.

Norway and Slovakia did not report data under the EU Registry.

Data for reporting year 2018 for Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, and Portugal is incomplete.

Data for reporting year 2019 for Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Malta, Portugal and Switzerland is incomplete.

The dataset will be updated and a new version will be made available as soon as missing reporting has been submitted.

This dataset is based on information reported on two separate reporting obligations (EU Registry and E-PRTR/LCP).

The update frequency is annually as a minimum.

Hierarchy

Inclusion of historic data reported under E-PRTR and IED

EEA, supported by its ETC (ETC/ATNI) mapped data historically reported to the E-PRTR and IED to the new data model behind the dataset at hand.

This was possible by using as starting point administrative data reported under EU Registry, E-PRTR and Large Combustion Plants for reporting year 2017. Using either the FacilityID or the PlantID a correspondence with the Facility and the InstallationPart as defined in the EU Registry has been made.

Thematic data regarding pollutant releases and transfers as well as waste transfers reported to the E-PRTR for reporting years 2007 to 2017 are therfore incorporated into this dataset.

Similarly data regarding fuel inputs, emissions and others formerly made available via the Large Combustion Plant inventory are also incorporated for reporting years 2016 and 2017.

The dataset resulting from this mapping project are currently shared with Countries pending their final confirmation.

Due to the increasing size of the information published the MS Access database is compressed with 7zip. The Excel user friendly tables have been split in 4 different files.
