Projections for global mean sea level rise and its contributions
Projections for global mean sea level rise and its contributions in 2081–2100 relative to 1986–2005 from process-based models for the four representative concentration pathways (RCPs) and emisions scenario SRES A1B used in the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report. The grey boxes show the median of the model projections (central bar) as well as the likely range, which comprises two thirds of the model projections. The coloured bars and boxes show estimates for the different contributions to global sea-level rise. For further information, see the source document.

Cumulative specific net mass balance of selected glaciers from European glaciated regions
Cumulative specific net mass balance of European glaciers
The figure shows the cumulative specific net mass balance of selected European glaciers, i.e. the change in glacier mass since the first year of their assessment. The start of the time series varies between glaciers.
Projected change in the volume of mountain glaciers and ice caps in European glaciated regions
The figure shows the projected volume for 2006–2100 of all mountain glaciers and ice caps in the European glaciated regions, derived using a mass balance model driven with temperature and precipitation scenarios from 14 GCMs, in Iceland, Svalbard, Scandinavia and central Europe (consisting of the European Alps and Pyrenees).
- Chart – Svalbard
The figure shows the projected volume for 2006–2100 of all mountain glaciers and ice caps in the European glaciated regions, derived using a mass balance model driven with temperature and precipitation scenarios from 14 GCMs, in Iceland, Svalbard, Scandinavia and central Europe (consisting of the European Alps and Pyrenees).
- Chart – Scandinavia
The figure shows the projected volume for 2006–2100 of all mountain glaciers and ice caps in the European glaciated regions, derived using a mass balance model driven with temperature and precipitation scenarios from 14 GCMs, in Iceland, Svalbard, Scandinavia and central Europe (consisting of the European Alps and Pyrenees).
- Chart – Central Europe
The figure shows the projected volume for 2006–2100 of all mountain glaciers and ice caps in the European glaciated regions, derived using a mass balance model driven with temperature and precipitation scenarios from 14 GCMs, in Iceland, Svalbard, Scandinavia and central Europe (consisting of the European Alps and Pyrenees).
Glacier distribution in Europe
The map shows the distribution of glaciers and ice caps as well as the locations of the available long-term mass balance observations labeled according to their region.
Glacier mass balance of European regions, 1967–2008
The figure show cumulative mass balance of long-term monitoring programs averaged for the six European regions.
