Influence of change in dwelling size on the energy consumption per dwelling (1997–2008)
The change in energy use per dwelling for space heating (measured in %/year) is decomposed into a change in floor area and a change in specific energy use per m2.
Due to the fact that the average dwelling size increases , the energy consumption per dwelling decreased less (1,1%/year) than consumption per m2 (1,5%/year) in the EU-27.
