Projected on the basis of annual growth rate observed during 1990-2000, by 2004 the 1990 levels are exceeded by 12%. The fastest development has occurred in Portugal (34%), Ireland (27%), Spain (18%), followed by France, Italy and Greece. The most affected regional seacoast is the Western Mediterranean.
