Methodology:: Each pixel value is the estimated density of inhab/km2. Note however that a pixel is 100 m x 100 m, ie 1 hectare. The pixel value should hence be divided by 100 in order not to overestimate the population density. The data is in integer values. It is recommended to use the data in the file format IMAGINE. Model assumed: Ycm : density of population for land cover type c in commune m. Uc coefficients for each land cover type. Wm : adjustment coefficient for each commune to ensure that the total population in each commune matches the administrative data. - No stratification of communes has been used for this version. - The coefficients for CLC classes are provisional. They correspond as order of magnitude to the estimates made for the disggregation of the 1991 data. Improvements are still needed. - CLC recoded into 9 classes, following also the studies made on the 1991 data.
