The image shows the Ruhr area in false colour mode. A false-colour image is an image that depicts a subject in colours that differ from those a full-colour photograph would show. The present image includes measurements in the infrared wavelength, depicting chlorophyll-rich vegetation in red colour. The inclusion of infrared allows determining the state and health of vegetation.
