The focus being the process leading to a comprehensive Implementation Plan for the Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS) by emphasising that:
Environmental information should be addressed as a priority topic in the context of the modern information society;
Quality assured environmental information is key when aiming to support sustainable environmental policies;
There is a need for streamlined information systems when aiming to support environmental policy making and enabling smooth information flows for citizens;
Regional & local authorities should be seen as key players and custodians of environmental information.
In addition to the overall focus on shared environmental information, the programme will include the EEA launch of the The European environment – state and outlook 2010 report (SOER2010). The launch will take place at the European Parliament on Tuesday 30 November.
