World Environment Day 2012 – Wellbeing and happiness: our contribution to Rio+20
The Rio+20 conference, to be held in June this year, comes twenty years after the first Earth Summit (the UN Conference on Environment and Development) when Heads of State met in this same city. In order to celebrate this important occasion, and make our own contribution, the EEA is organising an event at our premises on Tuesday 5th June 2012, on World Environment Day.

This will bring together EEA-EIONET partners, participants in an EU Presidency GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) Conference and the diplomatic corps based in Denmark. A panel discussion on sustainable living followed by a networking event on the same subject will animate the occasion.
Two additional “happenings” are also foreseen at the same time:
- the official launch of the 2012 edition of the EEA Signals report (the EEA product for schools and a wider non-expert audience)
- the award ceremony of EEA’s youth video competition Generation '92 (a competition addressed to young Europeans to present their vision for a sustainable future on video).
