After the 2010 discharge process, which was debated in 2012, the EEA Management Board has put in place rules governing issues such as conflict of interest, the Executive Director’s membership in external Boards and the EEA training policy. Following these measures, the European Parliament voted to sign off the accounts (known as ‘granting discharge’) for the year 2010 on 23 October 2012.
On 17 April 2013, the European Parliament granted the budget discharge for the year 2011.
