While industry makes a significant contribution to the economic welfare and development of a country, pollution from industrial activities can also negatively impact people, resources and the environment. Pollution from industry is subject to national, European, and international regulations and standards to limit releases, waste and resource use. However, industrial sources still contribute a substantial share of total pollution in Europe.

These country fact sheets summarise key data related to industry: on air and water emissions, waste generation, energy, and water usage for each of the 33 EEA member countries.
