L-isforzi ta’ l-Unjoni Ewropea biex jitnaqqsu l-emissjonijiet tal-gassijiet serra qegħdin jaħdmu. Infatti, l-UE hija mistennija tissodisfa l-mira unilaterali ta’ tnaqqis tagħha ta’ 20% (meta pparagunat mal-1990) qabel l-iskadenza miftiehma tal-2020. Barra minn hekk, l-UE għandha l-intenzjoni li tnaqqas l-emissjonijiet domestiċi b’mhux inqas minn 40% sal-2030 u tkompli tiddekarbonizza l-ekonomija tagħha sal-2050. L-UE fil-preżent tipproduċi madwar 10% tal-emissjonijiet globali tal-gassijiet serra.

External Data Spec Global Emissions EDGAR v4.2 FT2012 (November 2014) In EDGAR v4.2 FT2012 emissions are calculated for the greenhouse gases CO2, CH4 and N2O from 1970 to 2012 based on the energy balance statistics of IEA (2013). In the table underneath the emission timeseries per substance and per country can be downloaded. For a description of the data we refer to UNEP emissions gap report (2014): Chapter 2.

Folder Trends and projections in Europe The EEA’s annual report on Trends and Projections in Europe updates the progress assessments of the EU and European countries towards their climate mitigation and energy targets. It also sets sights forward towards the EU’s 2020 and new 2030 targets on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing renewable energy generation and improving energy efficiency. The assessments in the Trends and Projections in Europe report draw on the most recent data on EU and Member States’ progress to their climate and energy targets. These include: EU’s and Member States’ GHG inventory, Member States’ Effort Sharing datasets, Member States’s GHG projections, Proxy estimates of greenhouse gas emissions in the most recent year.
