The circular material use rate (CMUR) in Slovenia has increased slowly in recent years, with some fluctuation. The CMUR increased from 5.9% in 2010 to 8.8% in 2023. A drop after 2020 was mainly influenced by a smaller amount of waste being recycled and a .
Slovenia has a higher level of consumption of non-metallic minerals than other EU Member States, mainly due to construction activities. It is expected that the planned implementation of major construction projects, such as the construction of railway infrastructure and the road connection network known as the third development axis, will weigh on resource productivity growth in .
and several instruments, to support capacity building and networking and the financial support programme for start-ups and micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises in their strategic sustainable and , are contributing to increasing the CMUR.
