More information

Based on data reported by Member States under the Monitoring Mechanism Regulation (Regulation (EU) No 525/2013):
• 1990-2017 historic trends from national greenhouse gas inventories submitted in 2019;
• 2018 approximated inventories submitted in 2019;
• projections submitted by Member States in 2019 + gap-filling.

Trends for ETS emissions are based on an allocation of 1990-2017 GHG inventory data to either the ETS or non-ETS sectors, at source category level.

Solid lines represent historical GHG emissions (available for the period 1990-2017). Dashed lines represent projections for the scenario with existing measures (WEM). Dotted lines represent projections for the scenario with additional measures (WAM). The Effort Sharing sector emissions presented are estimated based on the attribution of GHG emissions, reported by source categories in national GHG inventories and national MMR projections, to EU ETS sectors and/or Effort Sharing sectors. The sector here summarised as ‘industry and other’ aggregates emissions of energy supply, manufacturing, industrial processes and product use (GHG inventory source categories 1.A.1, 1.A.2, 1.B, 1.C and 2), which are not covered under the EU ETS.
