The bar chart shows the development of national RES shares for the year 2015 and 2016 (using approximated estimates) in relation to trajectories from national renewable energy action plans (NREAP) reported by Member States.

Methodology

Based on:
• Renewable energy data from Eurostat, reported by MS under the Energy Statistics Regulation (EC) No 1099/2008 and the Renewable Energy Directive (2009/28/EC) and published in the SHARES - Short Assessment of Renewable Energy Sources tool.
• 2016 approximated estimates for renewable energy use estimated by EEA.

Targets and trajectories based on:
Indicative trajectories for the share of energy from renewable sources in gross final consumption of energy, from national renewable energy action plans (NREAPs).

Data sources

Share of renewable energy in cross final energy consumption provided by Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat)
Indicative trajectories for the share of energy from renewable sources in gross final consumption of energy, from national renewable energy action plans (NREAPs) provided by European Commission
Approximated share of energy from renewable sources (update coming soon) provided by European Environment Agency (EEA)
