Data Table
This page was archived on 26 Jun 2015 with reason: Other (New version data-and-maps/data/waterbase-transitional-coastal-and-marine-waters-11 was published)
The Stations_EIONET table contains the Eionet-Water transitional, coastal and marine water monitoring stations, provided by national sources or Marine Conventions. Each station has been assigned a unique Waterbase identifier (WaterbaseID) which can be used to link the Stations with their respective Quality or HazSubs data.

Table definition
SeaResidence Residence time residence time of transitional or coastal water body in days. smallint(2) 0
Longitude Longitude (X) international geographical co-ordinates in decimal degrees format. Longitude provided using the common geodetic datum ETS89 (rivers, lakes, groundwater, water quantity) or WGS84 (TCM). Negative values used for co-ordinates west of the Greenwich Meridian (0 degrees). Where TCM stations represent a broader area, the central location of the area is provided. numeric(5) 0
Latitude Latitude (Y) international geographical co-ordinates in decimal degrees format. Latitude provided using the common geodetic datum ETS89 (rivers, lakes, groundwater, water quantity) or WGS84 (TCM). Where TCM stations represent a broader area, the central location of the area is provided. numeric(5) 0
MainlandCoast Mainland coast distance of marine station from nearest mainland coast expressed in km. numeric(5) 0
ClosestCoast Closest coast distance of marine station from closest coast expressed in km. Only shown if different from MainlandCoast. numeric(5) 0
SalinityMean Mean annual salinity mean annual salinity measured at transitional, coastal or marine water station. numeric(5) 0
SalinityMinimum Minimum annual salinity minimum annual salinity measured at transitional, coastal or marine water station. numeric(5) 0
SalinityMaximum Maximum annual salinity maximum annual salinity measured at transitional, coastal or marine water station. numeric(5) 0
Temperature Mean annual temperature mean annual temperature at transitional, coastal or marine water station in degrees Celsius. numeric(5) 0
SeaDepth Mean annual depth mean annual sea depth at transitional, coastal or marine water station in m. numeric(5) 0
CountryCode Country code abbreviation of EEA Member or Collaborating country. ISO 3166-alpha-2 code elements. nvarchar(2) -1
WaterbaseID Waterbase ID internally produced, unique identifier used to represent the monitoring station for rivers, lakes, transitional, coastal and marine waters, and water quantity, in the format CountryCode_WaterDataSet_NationalStationID (e.g. AT_RV_001), or the groundwater body, in the format CountryCode_WaterDataSet_EWN-Code (e.g. AT_GW_AT001). nvarchar(35) -1
StationClass Station class proximity to land, defined by comparing supplied station co-ordinates with maps. Coast=within 20 km of closest land or island, Open Water=more than 20 km from closest land or island. nvarchar(10) 0
StationSite Station Site Specify whether station represents a single point location, a linear feature or a wider area (Area, Line, Point). nvarchar(5) 0
WaterbaseName Waterbase name national name of station or groundwater body. nvarchar(50) 0
WaterBodyType Water body type RV=river, CN=canal, T=transitional water, C=coastal water, M=marine water. nvarchar(1) 0
TCMMatrix Matrix environmental compartments measured at transitional, coastal or marine water station. B=biota, S=sediment, W=water column. Any combination allowed, listed alphabetically with no separator (e.g. BSW). nvarchar(3) 0
Mixing Mixing characteristics mixing characteristics at transitional, coastal or marine water monitoring station: FM = Fully mixed, PM = Partially mixed, VS = Vertically stratified. nvarchar(2) 0
Remarks Remarks remarks, comments or explanatory notes. nvarchar(255) 0
WaterBodyID Water body ID national identification code of water body (if applicable) in which station is located. Water body as required/defined by the WFD. A water body may have more than one station in it. nvarchar(50) 0
WaterBodyName Water body name name of water body in which station is located. Water body as required/defined by the WFD. A water body may have more than one station in it. nvarchar(100) 0
SeaAreaName Sea area name name of the local sea into which the river discharges or in which the TCM station is located. SeaAreaName may be the same as WaterBodyName. nvarchar(50) 0
SeaRegionName Sea region name name of regional sea of which local sea area is a part. nvarchar(50) 0
SeaConventionArea Marine Convention Area name of Marine Convention area of which regional sea is a part. nvarchar(15) 0
StationReporting Station reporting purpose reporting purpose of the transitional, coastal or marine water station. EC=European Commission, MC=Marine Conventions, N=national purposes. Station can be for more than one reporting purpose, listed alphabetically with no separator (e.g. ECN). nvarchar(5) 0
WaterBodyTypeDescription Water Body Type Description Additional water body type description. nvarchar(30) 0
CatchmentName Catchment name name of major catchment or basin. nvarchar(100) 0
Region Region national region in which water body is located. nvarchar(30) 0
ReferenceStation Reference Station reference station type, found in catchments or associated River Basin Districts with little or no human activity, natural landscape higher than 90%, and minimally impacted by inflow from adjacent coastal or marine waters. Concentrations of nutrients or hazardous substances occurring naturally would give an indication of background levels. For volatile sunthetic substances, data from these stations might be used to assess the significance of atmospheric deposition. River and lake stations can be of more than one type. 1=yes, 0=no. nvarchar(1) 0
PhysChemStation Physico-Chemicals category station physico-chemical conditions monitored at station. R=represenatative station type, I=impact station type. nvarchar(1) 0
