It is Specially Protected Areas (SPAs) for birds and adopted Sites of Community Importance (SCIs) for habitats and other species. The EUNIS sub-sample database has information on sites officially adopted by the European Commission. Examples of the information provided are site code, location, lists of fauna, flora and habitat types. The EUNIS sub-sample database is also available for interactive querying in the EUNIS portal. The European Natura 2000 descriptive database contains all the information reported by Member States, i.e. also information on sites not yet adopted by the Commission. The elaboration of GIS features for Natura 2000 is an ongoing project, which has not yet been completed. Both the European descriptive database and the preliminary GIS features are managed by the European Commission, DG Environment.
