The European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR) is a web-based register established by Regulation (EC) No 166/2006 which implements the UNECE PRTR Protocol, signed in May 2003 in Kiev.

European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (E-PRTR) - Microsoft Access database and text format

E-PRTR data covering reporting for 2007 to 2016 by EU Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia and Switzerland. The provided files represent the status of the E-PRTR database as of April 2018. In addition to the newly reported data (for 2016), it provides corrections from many countries for the previous years. Please refer to the table below ("Additional information") for details on the countries and years that have been updated compared to the database published in 2017 (E-PRTR database version 12).

A unique E-PRTR identification of a facility is introduced by FacilityID, which is used to hold track of identical facilities across different reporting years, even though national identifier might have changed.

Additional information

Article 7 of the Regulation sets the requirements for the annual reporting by Member States which covers the releases to air, water and land as well as the transfers of pollutants in waste water for 91 substances and across 65 industrial sub-sectors, and the transfer of waste from these industrial facilities. The register includes information of some 33 000 facilities in 33 countries (EU28, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Serbia).
