The data reported from the EU Member States to the Commission under the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive has been updated and now covers 25 Member States, with only the Czech Republic and Greece missing.

On the WISE MapViewer facility, one map shows agglomerations and their connections to sewerage systems and types of waste water treatment and another map shows waste water treatment plants across Europe.

By zooming in on the maps, individual agglomerations and treatment plants can be viewed and there are also pie-charts summarising the statistics for each country. The data are based on reporting for 2007 reflecting the situation as per 2005 or 2006. More detailed descriptions can be found in the "Map explanation" folder on top of the maps.
