The European Environment Agency is seeking temporary staff for posts as auxiliary agents.

Eligibility for All Posts
Selection is open to candidates who, on the closing date for the submission of CVs satisfy the following general requirements:
- Are a national of one of the Member Countries of the EEA (Member States of the European Union plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway)
OR
- Are a national of one of the new Member Countries of the EEA (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Cyprus, Malta, Turkey). The recruitment of nationals from these countries will be subject to prior ratification of the EEA membership agreement
- Meet the educational requirements as described under Qualifications and Experience
The place of employment will be Copenhagen.
Auxiliary Agent Project Manager (Category A)
Posts: State of the Environment and Indicator Reports/Integrated Environmental Assessment
Programme: Reporting and Networking Coordination (RNC)
Job description:
Applications will be used for filling posts that cover a combination of the tasks mentioned below:
Co-ordination of the Agency state-of-the-environment reporting plan. Co-ordination of production and editing of the EEA 5-year State & Outlook report and Environmental signals series (yearly indicator-based report). Co-operation with the member countries in indicators and state-of-the-environment reporting. Development of tools and methodologies of strategic environmental assessment and integrated environmental assessment; promoting their use in EEA's reporting, connecting with relevant networks.
Tasks:
- Responsible for the design and implementation of the state-of-the-environment reporting plan in connection to EU and international policy developments and events;
- Responsible for the compilation of the EEA 5-year State & Outlook report and Environmental signals series, from idea to editing and launch;
- Participate in EEA wide developments to increase the coherence of the reporting system (analytical frameworks, data flow analysis, tools for reporting).
- Promotion of the application of SEA/IEA at EEA and development of dedicated tools and methods for use in the EEA and its European Topic Centres
- Contribution to the development of prospective analysis for reporting
- Co-operate with the member countries by managing an expert group on Guidelines and State-of-the-Environment reporting;
Qualifications and Experience
- university degree relevant to the field concerned;
- at least 6 years professional experience relating to compiling and analysing information on the state-of-the environment and related policies;
- good networking, communication, presentation and motivation skills;
- experience in organising large-scale projects covering all environmental issues
- experience in working with a broad range of experts with specific expertise, and in international programmes or projects providing environmental information for decision makers;
- experience in communicating with policy-making organisations (the users of the reports).
Auxiliary Agent Project Manager (Category A)
Post: IRENA Project Co-ordinator
Programme: Environmental Assessment
Job description:
The EEA will become responsible for the implementation of the IRENA project (Indicator Reporting on the Integration of Environmental Concerns into Agricultural Policy). This project is meant to build capacity at the EEA to co-ordinate the development of agri-environment indicators in partnership with DG Agri, DG ENV, DG Eurostat and DG JRC. The EEA will be responsible for
- the production of a joint agri-environmental indicator report,
- the writing and production of an indicator-based assessment on the integration of environmental concerns into agriculture policy
- compilation of agri-environmental indicator data sets, and
- project co-ordination and management.
Tasks:
The EEA is seeking a project co-ordinator who will be responsible for
- the development and compilation of indicator data sets on the basis of the list presented in COM(2001) 144;
- the input of agri-environmental expertise into the development of project reports and indicator data sets;
- writing, compilation and editing of the indicator based assessment report;
- regular presentation of work in progress to the coordination committee;
- consultation with the other project partners and coordination committee on the compilation of data and drafts of the indicator report;
- regular feedback between the partners responsible for the policy assessment framework and agri-environmental data development;
- organisation of workshops and seminars;
- production of annual reports on the achievement of outputs and deliverables in the project.
Qualifications and experience:
- At least five years experience in the agri-environmental field including work with agri-environmental indicators
- good understanding of the link between agriculture and environment in Europe and of relevant EU policies
- good organisational, co-ordination and communication skills
- experience in the management of EU funded projects
- Good knowledge of statistical methodology and the EU statistical system
- A university degree relevant to the field concerned (for example agronomy, agricultural economics, biological sciences, geography, environmental sciences)
- High level of written and spoken English
Auxiliary Agent Project Manager (Category A) - Part-time (75 %)
Post: Biodiversity Implementation Indicators (Bio-IMPs) Project Co-ordinator
Programme: Environmental Assessment
Job description:
The Bio-IMPs project focuses on the development of concepts, testing and identification of data flows for indicators relevant for assessing the effectiveness of the Community Biodiversity Strategy with its associated Actions Plans.
Tasks:
The main work will concentrate on a limited number of indicators relevant for the Action Plan on Natural Resources, but will also develop or identify a small number of indicators which can serve to assess the overall effectiveness of other Biodiversity Action Plans. The work will by led by the European Environment Agency, but will entail much collaboration with the European Commission, the EEA Topic Centre for Biological Diversity and other organisations. The indicators shall be developed to fit other indicator developments by EEA.
Qualifications and experience:
- At least five years experience in production and coordination of development of indicators and production of reports based on environmental indicators, including biodiversity indicators
- good understanding of the link between biodiversity and environment in Europe and of relevant EU policies
- good organisational, co-ordination and communication skills
- experience in the management of EU or other internationally funded projects
- A university degree relevant to the field concerned (for example biological sciences, geography, environmental sciences, or similar)
- High level of written and spoken English
