Figure Change in ammonia (NH3) emissions compared with the 2010 NECD and Gothenburg protocol targets (EEA member countries)
The reported change in ammonia (NH3) emissions for each country, 1990-2010 in comparison with the 2010 NECD and 2020 Gothenburg protocol targets.

Highlight Octet Stream Changing environmental governance in a changing world
Climate change, growing consumption and urbanisation, spiralling resource use and new health risks are just some of the global pressures the world will face in the 21st Century. These are the findings from the Assessment of Global Megatrends, launched in November 2010 as part of the State and Outlook of the European Environment Report (SOER) and now published in a new book version.

Figure Emission trends of non-methane volatile organic compounds (EEA member countries, EU-27 Member States)
Data are for non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOC). The with measures (WM) projections reported by Member States take into account currently implemented and adopted policies and measures.

Figure Contribution to total change in PAH emissions for each sector between 1990 and 2009 (EEA member countries)
The contribution made by each sector to the total change in emissions of selected persistent organic pollutants (POPs) between 1990 and 2009: HCB - hexachlorobenzene, HCH - hexachlorocyclohexane, PCBs - polychlorinated biphenyls; dioxins & furans; and PAHs - polyaromatic hydrocarbons.

Figure Change in CH4 emissions 1990-2009 (EEA member countries)
The reported change in methane (CH4) emissions for each country, 1990-2009.

Figure Distance-to-target for EEA member countries
The distance-to-target indicator shows how current emissions compare to a linear emission reduction 'target-path' between 1990 emission levels and the 2010 emission ceiling for each country. Negative percentage values indicate the current emissions in a country are below the linear target path; positive values show that current emission lie above a linear target path to 2010.

Figure Contribution to total change in non-methane volatile organic compounds emissions for each sector (EEA member countries)
The contribution made by each sector to the total change in non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOC) emissions between 1990 and 2009.

Figure Change in emissions of non-methane volatile organic compounds compared with the 2010 NECD and Gothenburg protocol targets (EEA member countries)
Data are for NMVOC emissions. Gothenburg protocol targets are shown for the non-EU countries (e.g. Switzerland and Norway). Neither Iceland nor Turkey has signed the Gothenburg protocol. Liechtenstein has signed but not yet ratified the Gothenburg protocol.

Figure Emission trends of ammonia (EEA member countries, EU-27 Member States)
This chart shows past emission trends of ammonia in the EEA-32 and EU-27 group of countries. In addition - for the EU-27 - the 2010 and 2020 emission ceilings and paths are shown.
