Figure Change in emissions of ammonia compared with the 2010 NECD and Gothenburg protocol targets (EEA member countries)
Data are for NH3 emissions. Gothenburg protocol targets are shown for the non-EU countries (e.g Switzerland and Norway). Neither Iceland nor Turkey has signed the Gothenburg protocol. Liechtenstein has signed but not yet ratified the Gothenburg protocol. Data for Iceland, Liechtenstein and Turkey not available.

Data AirBase - The European air quality database
AirBase is the air quality information system maintained by the EEA through the European topic centre on Air and Climate Change. It contains air quality data delivered annually under 97/101/EC Council Decision establishing a reciprocal exchange of information and data from networks and individual stations measuring ambient air pollution within the Member States (EoI Decision).

Figure Percentage of population resident in urban areas potentially exposed to O3 concentration levels over the long-term objective for protection of human health, EEA member countries, 1997-2007
The target value is 120 µg O3/m3 as daily maximum of 8 hour mean, not to be exceeded more than 25 days per calendar year, averaged over three years. Over the years 1997-2006 the total population for which exposure estimates are made, increases from 48 to 112 million people due to an increasing number of monitoring stations reporting under the Exchange of Information Decision.

Only urban and sub-urban background monitoring stations have been included in the calculations.
